A PLACE TO BE HELD AND HEAL

WATSU® SESSIONS & CLASSES
WATSU® (Water Shiatsu) is a unique therapeutic practice performed in warm water. The name "WATSU®" is derived from the combination of "water" and "shiatsu," reflecting its roots in traditional Japanese bodywork. The practice involves a series of slow, flowing movements and stretches performed with the recipient fully immersed in water.
The warm water supports and cushions the body, allowing for deeper relaxation and ease of movement compared to traditional land-based therapies. The buoyancy reduces the impact on joints and muscles, facilitating a deeper range of motion.
The practitioner uses their hands, arms, and body to apply pressure along the body’s energy meridians, similar to traditional shiatsu. This aims to release tension, improve energy flow, and promote overall well-being.
The session typically involves gentle rocking, stretching, and cradling movements. These are designed to enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.
The close, supportive environment of WATSU® fosters a deep sense of trust and relaxation. The recipient is guided through the session in a meditative state, often leading to profound emotional and physical release.
WATSU® is known for its benefits in reducing stress, alleviating chronic pain, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness. It is often used in rehabilitation settings and for individuals with various physical and emotional challenges.
A typical WATSU® session involves the recipient floating in the warm water, with the practitioner providing support and guidance throughout. The experience is highly individualized, with movements tailored to the recipient’s specific needs and comfort levels. The combination of water and shiatsu techniques creates a soothing and therapeutic environment, promoting deep relaxation and healing.
